The
Official Train The Official Train conveyed
dignitaries from Martin Place to Bondi
Junction and then back to Martin Place
where an official luncheon was held for
invited guests to mark the
opening. The Official Train comprised: Still
bearing the special headboard Goninan car
C3004 leads the Official Train into
Platform 2 at Bondi Junction after going
into general service after its official
duties. Two views

pass through the junction beyond
Erskineville and descend underground into
the new Eastern Suburbs Railway on the
first official trip. Goninan cars C3004

First Public Train The first public train followed the
official train and comprised:. (Bondi Junction end) Two similar
later views of the first public train

what would have been Woollahra station on
the up line between Edgecliff and
Bondi Junction. Plans to build a station here
were cancelled after strong opposition
from local residents. Another
view from the cab of C3005 crossing the
viaduct at Rushcutters Bay on the up line
between Kings Cross and Martin Place.
Familiar Sydney icons MLC Centre and
Centrepoint Tower are visible on the
skyline. Note the unique aesthetic
overhead wiring structures used on the
ESR.
