UPDATED INFORMATION - 4 SEPTEMBER 2002

- The 86 class locomotive is being recommissioned and brought from Lithgow specially for this trip.

- The train will now consist of 6 passenger cars.

- Tickets for all bookings received on or prior to Tuesday 3rd have been dispatched by post (unless otherwise requested) in three batches. Bookings received since Saturday have been dispatched today. Tickets for bookings received from today (Wednesday) onwards will be held and made available for collection from Central prior to departure. A table will be set up at the entry to the platform from which the train will depart for collection.

- Due to the large numbers involved and to speed processing at Central, we still encourage bookings to be sent in (from Sydney metro-area) up until close of mail Thursday (5th) 6:00pm. Particularly if you wish to book/pay by credit card.

- At Central the departure platform will be in the Country trains area and will be shown on the indicators under the internal clock in the main concourse.

- Departure at Central is 9:14, with pickup stops at Hurstville 9:36 (departure) and Sutherland 9:49 (departure)

- Please be scheduled to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to departure, to avoid disappointment. If arriving by train please check for track work - call 131500.

- If you have to collect tickets or pay for an extra member of your party on the day please arrive at least 60 minutes prior to departure.

- Seating is not allocated and the train arrives at Central with the loco at 8:49.

- Due to limited time at Kiama, lunch in the form of sandwiches and hot pies will also be available on the train. A range of hot and cold refreshments and snacks will also be available on board.

- With the numbers booked, this will be the biggest heritage electric event for some years.

Join us to mark the end of an era - the end of regular electric loco hauled train services in NSW.

With the sale of Freightcorp to new private owners, a decision has been made to dispose of their 60 remaining electric locos. Thus what started with prototype loco 4501 in 1952, will probably end with the 86 class locos in 2002.

Our tour will feature an 86 class loco hauling a consist of vintage carriages with lift-up windows.

Our day long trip will be an enthusiast's event not to be missed, and may be the final operation of 86 class electric locos.

Additional highlights of the trip are expected to include a visit to Olympic Park and the Wollongong harbour inner balloon loop. Numerous photo stops have also been allowed along the route.

Our tour will commence with a 9:14 am departure from Central, proceeding to Wollongong. From there we will proceed to Dapto and Kiama. At Kiama we will have 50 minute break while the loco changes ends, during which time lunch may also be purchased.

We will then return and proceed to Hawkesbury River via Meeks Road (using the good lines to Flemington). At Hawkesbury River we will have a 35 minute break, while the loco again changes ends, before commencing our return to Central, with our arrival around 7:30 pm.

THE PRE-BOOKED FARES ARE: Adults $94, Concessions $79 and Children (5-18 years) $47.

A buffet service will also be available on board the train. Tickets will be mailed 1 week prior to the trip.
