SETS' preserved locomotive 8606 made its maiden tour on Saturday 6th December 2003. This trip saw 8606 recreate the Newcastle flyer with a non-stop journey along the main Northern line. 8606 was also believed to be the first 86-class locomotive to traverse the Richmond line. The following images show the tour train on the day.
First thing Saturday morning, 8606 arrives at Sydney Terminal with a consist of six passenger cars. Here 8606 detaches from the train and prepares to run around the train to be ready to depart on the tour. Photograph by Matthew Doyle
