THE DETAILS:
For our end-of-year tour, we will be given a guided inspection of the Sydney Monorail & Light Rail Depots at Darling Harbour. This will give everyone a rare glimpse at what goes on behind the scenes. Our inspection tour will include the maintenance facilities and control rooms of both systems. As the inspections will be done in two separate groups, a brief "scenic tour" of various nearby historic and tram-related points of interest will also be conducted.
Afterwards, we'll be heading south to hold our Christmas BBQ at the Sydney Tramway Museum at Loftus. This includes unlimited tram rides, and an inspection of the museum's collection outside the gaze of the general public. A few operating ex-Sydney tramcars will enable a contrast to be made with today's light-rail technology.
IMPORTANT:
Please note that appropriate clothing and footwear is necessary for the inspection of the workshops.
BUS PICK-UP & SET-DOWN POINTS:
Our bus will depart Sydney Terminal near the Taxi rank outside Platform 1 at 11:30am. We expect to return to Sydney Terminal (traffic permitting) at approximately 7:45pm. Set-down stops can be made on request.
THE ALL-INCLUSIVE FARES ARE:
Adults $30; Concessions $25 & Children (5-16 Years) $15.
This includes all bus travel, inspection of the two depots and control; rooms, admission to the Tramway Museum, unlimited tram rides and the BBQ.
